Malmøya

Outside downtown Oslo there is a peaceful and small island called Malmøya, a must-visit for anyone who loves being in the water. This place is famous for its sandy beaches, lush forest, and archeologically significant areas.
Take bus 85 from Oslo city centre to reach Ormøya and then Malmøya via two major bridges on the route. There is an accessible dock or Swimming Rig on the island that is open to public for swimming. This floating dock was carefully designed by the Oslo Municipality to make it as accessible as possible with a ramp that leads to a caged swimming area. The island is also home to a camping site for those who wish to spend the night here during summers. Malmøya is popular for its numerous fossil sites dating back to the Cambro-Silurian period. There are rare flowers found here in the secluded forest area. Some parts of this island belong to a nature reserve shred by the neighbouring island of Malmøykalven. Another spot worth checking out on the island are the Solvikbukta beach where you will find toilets and parking areas as well.
