πŸ“ Holm cultural heritage trail is a 3 km long round trip in outer Bindal, where you can experience traces of people who lived here over 1500 years ago. The trail starts at the community house Solvang, goes down to the old cemetery at Solstad, continues to the shore and through an area with burial mounds from the Iron Age – before it returns to Holm Camping.

πŸ•°οΈ The Solstad area has traces of settlement dating back to the birth of Christ. The burial mounds testify that individuals of high status – perhaps petty kings or peasant chieftains – once lived here. The old cemetery at Solstad was the main burial site for outer Bindal for over 250 years.

🌿 Along the trail, you will find 7 stops with signs that tell about the burial mounds, wildlife, plants, and local history. The route is suitable for those who want to hike, exercise, enjoy the view, or learn more about the past. The trail code can be found at the shelter.

πŸš— Access: Follow fv. 17 to Holm and take the turn towards Solstad / Holm Camping (FV. 7208). After about 1.2 km, you will reach parking and a starting board at the community house Solvang – just after Holm Camping.

🎯 The Holm cultural heritage trail is an accessible and meaningful experience – whether you come as a tourist, local resident, or history enthusiast. Bring good shoes and curiosity – and discover the traces of people who lived here over 1500 years ago.

The Holm cultural heritage trail was developed by Nord-Vedstrand school (now closed) and Nord-Vedstrand activity group, in collaboration with Bindal municipality, Nordland county municipality, and the Science Museum in Trondheim. The project is a result of local engagement and professional support – with the aim of making the cultural heritage accessible to all who want to walk, learn, and experience.
