Snowshoeing in the Gausta Area

There are many ways to enjoy the nature around Gausta, and one of the best is exploring the mountain landscape on snowshoes. We’ll trek across the frozen lake Kvitåvatn and head slightly up the mountainside to find a scenic viewpoint where we can enjoy refreshments and a cozy campfire.

This is a fantastic circular snowshoe hike led by a local nature guide and is suitable for all skill levels. The tour is estimated to take 2–3 hours, covering approximately 3 kilometers with an ascent of about 100 meters. To ensure a personal experience, group sizes are limited to a maximum of 8 participants.

For a safe and comfortable trip, sturdy winter or hiking boots are required (sneakers are not allowed), along with warm winter clothing including mittens, a hat, and a buff. Please bring a small backpack (20–30L) with sunglasses, sunscreen, and an extra warm jacket to wear during breaks.
